I recently sawed off the bottom portion of the plate holder and raised it a few inches. I bought a Raidantz LED license plate and installed that. It is much brighter than the stock plate light. Originally I thought about a side mounted plate but in my opinion the 900C looks a little awkward without something hanging over that back area so instead I went with the cleaned up version of the stock plate.
