Over the last 6 years I've had over 14 pairs of gloves, probably close to 20 by the time you factor in losses and replacements.

I did not like the Alpinestarts personally; they weren't "bad" but IMHO everything below the SP3's are overpriced for the protection level they (claim) to offer. The Olympias are an excellent value for the money - you get a solid glove worth the price paid. I haven't yet owned any Joe Rockets but I have tried them on - the mostly fabrics ones seemed a bit "flimsy" to me while the leather stuff seemed a solid value. The Icons fit great but are maybe a bit overpricesd considering the fundamental construction basis (for my hands, I was willing to pay more for that fit because I'm hard to size right). The AGV's are a good price but you have to be wary of the QC - I went through 2 pairs (and direct to the distributor who hand-picked the second pair for me) in order to get some where the armor actually lined up with you knuckles (still have some problems on my left hand there). River Road is a basic glove, with just a (small) amount of pizazz, at a basic price.

And finally, Held. Big time bucks, worth every stinking rotten single penny in terms of fit, build, materials and protection. Overall, the finest pair I've ever owned and proud to own.

...I'm part of a glove fetish group (amongst others). We know gloves.
