I think that's really key. Like Jerry Paladino says, he'd been riding for 20 years, but he'd been practicing the same bad habits all those years. It's never too late for training!
I took the BRC four years ago. I'm teaching it now, and I'm amazed at how constantly reinforcing that stuff is making me a better rider. I realized that I'd gotten sloppy about some things, but now, since I'm teaching students the basics, my own habits are improving. I'm much more aware of what I'm doing than I was before I became an instructor. It's pretty cool.
