We recently received your order from Ride Gear. When the order reached us we were unable to process your credit card (just a temporary hold, not an actual charge), which we need to do in order to fulfill the order. Most likely it is something as simple as the billing address not matching what your bank has on file, not an actual decline.
We at Cycle Gear pride ourselves on our level of internet security and therefore we use a very state of the art, very detailed address matching system.
Please let us know if you re still interested in this order by calling 1-800-CYCLEGEAR and we ll get started on your order right away. If not, just reply to this e-mail and we ll cancel the order immediately.
We realize your experience with Ride Gear (a completely separate company not affiliated with us, Cycle Gear) has not been pleasant and as you know we, Cycle Gear, were temporarily contracted to step in and see if we could help get your goods into your hands as quickly as possible.
Due to technical difficulties, Ride Gear was not able to pass your order to Cycle Gear as quickly as they would have liked, resulting in the delay you've experienced.
Had your order originally been placed with us at Cycle Gear, your experience would certainly have been a pleasant one.
We invite you to take a few moments to visit our website, Cycle Gear - Motorcycle Apparel, Parts and Accessories where we ve got a great selection to choose from. I m sure you ll find something that suits your needs.

So basically, Ridegear.com took my personal information (name, address, phone number, credit card number) and gave it to Cycle Gear without my permission rather than calling me and saying, "Hey, we screwed up and can't fill your order." My mind is blown by this. The reason my credit card was declined? I called my credit card company and told them to put a hold on it until this Ridegear nonsense got resolved. Soooo glad I did that.
The part in this letter that cracked me up was, "as you know we, Cycle Gear, were temporarily contracted to step in..." Well, actually, I did NOT know that until I got this email. This was even more delicious because it came after the "we take great pride in security" spiel. I ask, sincerely, WTF?!?!

From what I know, Ridegear is attempting to become a drop and ship company. Straight from the warehouse to you without any middle person. Therefore they have no stock what so ever.
They created a contract with cyclegear along with a few other companies to help them fulfill orders since this is peak season. They are not selling your information to other companies, they are simply passing on an order which they cannot fulfil, and instead of you waiting 2 months for your item, they can pass on your orders to get them fulfilled in a "shorter" amount of time.
Nothing to serious,
Goodluck
