gr8ride/Daren: Shame on the both of you! Yes, you're both correct in the information that you gave--but you left out the most important point that ssteal hasn't even thought of: how crappy the bike will run once he's installed the pipes. Both of you to the corner...now!
Keep the stock pipes because that's what the engine is designed for. If you throw on any aftermarket pipes on the 500R, you're going to mess up the fuel mixture and your bike will never run the same way again. $100, huh? Get some grips, smaller turn signals for the front, new pegs if you're inclined, a cargo net, tank protector and then get a value meal with the money that's left over.
