hey guys i got a 1981 440 ltd it was running fine but dripping a drop or 2 out of the overflow line on the right carb i took it off to check to see if the float wasnt going up high enough or if there was trash in it i adjusted the float hight not by the book but buy bending the tounge on the metal float lever some with a screwdriver put it all back to gether and now it runs rougher than before at low speeds once i get going its fine its prone to cut off now and wants to sputter when starting out choking it just a little seems to help the problem did i bend the float valve to far ? or is there something else i could check it also when i am going down the road if i let off the gas it let the engine slow the bike down it apears to backfire slightly i had to idle it up with the little black knob in the center of the 2 carbs to keep it running after i put it back together i didnt go into the carbs just pulled the bowl on one carb ( the one that was leaking) and messed with float height i am pretty sure i got the throttle cable back where it was before as i marked the threaded end and ideas would be greatly apreciated also this did not stop the dripping but when i pushed up on the float and blew air into the line it was closing off any ideas ?
