yeah, i can believe that!
mine are pretty damn loud, but it's nice to have a rough idea of just HOW loud they are!
the legal limit here is 98 if i recall.
I rode past a motorcycle cop who was parked at the bottom of my road yesterday. I gunned it a little as i dropped down a gear for the intersection ahead. ... I also nodded at him, but he just stared at me.
Not sure if he was trying to figure out if my pipes were too loud or what the hell kinda sexy bike it was that i was riding
i think it was the latter, as i didn't see him following me with his lights on.

Not necessary for just the pipes. With an air kit too, you'll need it though. I think that answers the second question too
