Idles high when warm 1981 KZ 440 D3
I've finally got my 1981 KZ440 D3 up and running again. I'm having a couple of issues tho. I can set the idle where it needs to be or sounds like it needs to be (as my Tach doesn't have a cable). After I ride it for awhile and come to a stop it idles real high. If I had to guess, by sound alone, about 3500 or 4000 RPMs. Any ideas? I'm hoping it isn't the diaphrams in the carbs as they are very expensive. I just cleaned the carbs real well and replaced the parts that came in the rebuild kits. I set the pilot air screw per spec in my Haynes manual ( 1 & 3/4 turns out) and added some seafoam to my tank just to make sure everything was clean. It does seem to be running a little rich. The exhaust fumes are real strong.
The second issue I'm having is the battery dies and apparently isn't charging. Does anybody know any simple tests to see if it is the Stator or the Rectifier/Regulator?
Thanks for your help!
