The Pure-One is reported to be VERY restrictive, and upon examination, the media pleats are packed very tightly together.
In theory, 600sq/in will filter as effectively for a longer time period and flow better than 300sq/in, but if that means that the pleats are packed too tightly, then flow will be reduced.
There needs to be a balance between a fine "enough" grade of media (restrictive), coupled with enough surface area to allow adequate flow, with enough housing volume to keep it from being packed into a solid mass once it swells from soaking in oil.
