Since I have a windshield I do not need the foam type glasses- however things can come around the sheild so the foam is an added layer of protection. There are two types of foam- the 'flimsy' type which does not last long and comes unglued, and the denser type which seems to last/wear longer. (the denser type has a smooth surface). A drawback to glasses is that the arms can cause uncomfortable pressure on the bone above your ears (the earbone?) after a long period of time. If I really like the glasses I will cut the arms shorter to avoid this. Goggles are very good also, with the exception that the strap sometimes winds up pressing down on your ears.
