well in the first one it's slightly harder to see, but the area reflecting my face is the part which was polished. you can just about make out a few vertical and horizontal grooves right in the centre of the picture which i didn't manage to fully polish out.
and in the second pic... you see the part of the end-cap which reflects the most light, that's the polished part. You can see fine scuff marks. It's a slightly different finish to the rest of the cap, but you really can't tell unless you're a few inches away.
