PRI is for Prime. You only use it when you run out of gas or want to drain the tank. the valve is a vacuum operated and only works when the engine is running unless you have it on PRI which you should use since you will run out every drop with no reserve. Comprende? or did I confuse you more......

As for the rear light? check the brake switch. Mine was bad when I got my 800. Dang near $30 for a little plastic and wire whatzit....
