SOMETIMES an old thread is dredged up and it is a valid continuation of the original thread, but most of the time, it's a newbie asking the original poster a question... when the original poster maybe hasn't even been active on the forum for years.
Other times it's just someone scanning old threads and responding without thinking.

Looking at the for sale sections, its people that are googling for xyz part for something, never looking a the date of the last post, or original post, and just joining to ask if its still being parted out, or for sale, etc. I personally find this supremely irritating.
people who respond in threads regading a technical issue much later to ask a valid question regarding the issue or how the original poster resolved it I dont mind. those can and sometimes are actualy helpful.
