well sure
the new pads need to be in the caliper before you re-install the caliper,
first, rinse the inside area of the caliper with brake cleaner to get rid of the road grime, very carefully and use towels or rags to protect the rest of the bike, remove the old pads, one of the pads has a pin that must be removed in order to remove the pad, the pin, or bolt, has a very tiny cotter pin right by the head, that must be removed, before you can slide that pin out, retract the piston back in to the bore, all it takes is finger pressure evenly, although is a bit hard but doable.
once you have the piston backed in, install the pad that goes against it, re-install the other pad, and make sure the little cotter pin is installed also, assuming that the wheel is already back on the bike, slide the caliper on to the disc, instal the mounting bolts and that's it, good luck.
