I'm told the proper color should be tan. If its white rather than tan I think it is a sign that its running on the lean side.
As for pulling the plugs -I just used the socket that came in the bike's tool pouch. Take that side cover off and dig through your tool pouch and see if you got one (geeez that sentence sounds a bit odd
)...
