People don't really get hurt from deployment of airbags, as they are fully deployed before you get even close to them in almost all cases. When people get hurt by airbags it's because they have been in an accident, so they get less hurt than they would without. Only cases of people getting hurt that have any merit are of the ones with people having their seat too close. But in almost all cases people are hurt far less and often it is limited to scrapes and scratches and small cuts or light burns as compared to dead or extremely injured.

I have seen the video of this system and the bag is fully deployed in a fraction of a second, far sooner than the rider actually travels far enough forward to make contact with it. I also the same crash with the same bike just no airbag and the rider would have been dead for sure, with the airbag he would have been sore for sure, maybe some injuries, but would have lived.

I don't see how the injuries that may be incured from an airbag would be less than those you would get from the side of the car. I support the concept on appropriate bikes, but I certainly don't know if it is meant for all of them.
