Don't let the word Florida mislead you. It can get freaking COLD here at times. Lately I've been riding home in the morning, about 6am, in low 40 degree weather. And while my legs get cool, they really don't get cold with just my jeans on. My First Gear Jacket keeps me incredibly warm.
As for my Hands, OUCH!!! they Hurt like Hell. I mean pain. Wearing my warm weather gloves, and then inserts on top of that did NOT help one bit. Did I say OUCH!!! I even tried a weird idea until I could get some new gloves. I tried using Surgical gloves under my inserts, and gloves...the word OUCH still comes to mind.:
So I gave up, went to the Harley shop today, and picked up a set of gloves that have Gortex, and are wide enough to go over my jacket so the wind doesn't creep up under the jacket at the wrist. It's 55 degrees now and they worked perfectly.

We'll see how they do in the morning when it's 40 degrees out and I'm riding 50 mph for 30 mins.
It also gave me an excuse to sit on the beautiful
$28,000 110 cubic inch Screaming Eagle and try my gloves out. I mean ya gotta make sure they feel good when twisting the throttle and pulling the clutch right? But when he told me it was $28,000 plus tax, I made sure I was REAL CAREFUL to NOT scratch it or kick something when getting on and off the bike.
So what does this have to do with
Jerry "Motorman" Palladino you say??
Well as I'm standing in line at the Harley shop, paying for my gloves, this guy is standing there wearing a "Ride Like a Pro IV" T-shirt. I start to tell him I wached that video, and it HITS me...hey, are you "Motorman". YEP, it's him, he lives right here in town, just north of me. I shook his hand and told him so far if all I learn from that video is how to do a U-turn using only one lane worth of space or on a neighborhood street, then the Video is worth the price. Told him that I'd practice the low speed stuff AFTER I get my crash bars. He said good idea.
He's a nice guy, very pleasent. He was riding his Gold Wing today. Beautiful bike.
Well it was worth it today, $96 for gloves to keep my hands from HURTING, and meeting "Motorman" Palladino.
edit: Here is an update on the weather for tomorrow morning:
The National Weather Service is expecting to put up A Wind Chill Advisory from 4am to 9am Tuesday morning.
Due to the strong wind and chilly air, the ‘feels-like’ temps will be in the upper 20s north of Tampa Bay with the rest of the area feeling more like the lower 30s during the early morning hours.
Sound like home trike and Spok??? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
