I agree with you there Lycos, the term "custom chopper" has been applied to so many bike that it has now become the antithesis(sp?) of what it started uot to be.
We actually went to our local Show&Shine today. It was pretty much full of "custom choppers", raked out, side mount plates, huge rear tires. Some looked ok I geuss, as a novelty. But they all looked the same really. Now here is where it gets wierd, in the middle of all these build-a bikes looking very out of place is the exact Goldammer board tracker that I originally posted about. It looked fantastic, skinny little tires and all. It really stuck out from the rest.
So yes, I too would like to see more real "custom bikes". Like that Honda powered cafe racer that Jesse James built or something.
