Actually pouring of alot white smoke out of the exhaust can be burning coolant (99% of the time if you are burning coolant it will pour out white smoke, idle, driving, etc). But my question is to the original poster, are you losing coolant? Does your exhaust have a sweet smell do it? If you answered no to losing coolant, and no to a sweet smell (white smoke) then you do not have a burning coolant problem. I know it sucks that you just spent $650 to fix what you thought was wrong. But white smoke can also be condensation build up in the pipe(s) or somewhere in the exhaust and when the bike heats up it cooks the water leading to white smoke. But it will only do this until the water is gone, has it currently rained and the bike was left outside or was it really hot one day and then cold at night in your area? Burning oil would not be a brown color in smoke it would be a blueish/white tint of smoke and it would smell like burning oil (bad piston rings, or valve stem seals are the lead majority cause of burning oil). And as well the only way that the head would of had a chance to crack or warp is either the bike went down hard in a wreck or the bike overheated and caused this problem. But if that was the case you would be losing coolant as well and have the sweet smell coming from the exhaust.
