I am also convinced that our gas tank can accomodate more than 4.8 gallons. There was a day in summer that I waited until I reached my 'preferred' gas station after my low gas indicator had come on for awhile. After 20 or so miles more, I was able to put in 4.6 gallons in the tank. If it was really a 4.8 gallon tank, my bike should have sputtered already...but it didn't. As mentioned by members, rely on your trip meter...I usually fill up after getting 200 miles on my trip meter.
