very interesting question which im sure will continue to fuel this interesting thread!
I do not own a car. I have been riding for 2 years and that alsmo means 2 winters. I have ridden to work as long as the temperature was above 32F.. I have been quite comfortable while doing so you just need to have the right gear to keep you both safe and warm.
Unfortunately many people get into the sport to go fast, which means they will try to spend as little as possible in gear, but as much as they can on the fastest machine available to them.
Also now that it is winter sportbikes cannot be ridden nearly as hard as they can in the summer cause there just isnt as much traction. So many people are much more selctive when it comes to going out on their bikes.
