I had a Vmax and loved it. Its a real kick in the a&&. You should see the looks when people see the front wheel of a "cruiser" coming off the ground. Not a distance bike, low fuel light comes on around 80 miles (4 gal. tank).
I'm looking at an FJR now myself.
