It's looking good mate, especially with that seat in place there. I agree it will look better even lower.
Have you thought about using a chemical paint stripper rather than sanding? I know a guy in my old car club who completely stripped his whole car back to bare metal using paint stripper and a plastic scraper.
Or I guess you could try an electric sander to speed up the manual process.
