My 2001 800A had set of Vance and Hines pipes on it (very loud and not conducive to marital bliss ) when I got it last year. I really want to get the stock exhaust to put back on it before riding any trips (especially with possible marital bliss involved). I even corresponded with someone that I found on this forum last summer who had a set of stockers for just shipping or I could come pick them up since he didn't live too far away from me (in western terms anyway) but I had a dirty rotten rippin frassin rassin harddrive crash and lost all archives plus my address book with his email address, so that is not likely to happen now unless he happens to read this. (All I remember is that he lives in Bozeman Montana. )
Anyway, I am thinking that the Vance and Hines pipes may be the cause of some carb problems that are making me frustrated. It starts just fine using the choke but I have to keep it choked a long time or it backfires, etc. On some days, even after a long warm-up, I need to keep it a little choked all the time so it will run right. (Depends on temp and humidity I am thinking.)

So my question is this: Did someone put these pipes on with no other mods and now the carb needs rejetted, etc. so it will run decent?
Should I just try to get the pipes changed back before doing any carb adjusting?
OR are there any other possibilities that it could be?
