Bike stalls when warm
Hi, just bought an old '79 KE100 for cheap, and it runs very well for an old bike with no issues until about 15 minutes into the drive. While cruising the engine starts to stutter and get jerky then it stalls out. It will not start, as if there is no spark, until you let it rest for about 10-15 minutes. Now, I heard it is most likely the ignition coil that supplies the spark, that has gone bad and fails when it is hot. Any Ideas? What parts of the bike (electrically) are regulated by the voltage regulator? Is it possible the voltage regulator is bad maybe, and that ruined the coil with too many volts, or is the ignition coil supplied with electricity straight from the flywheel. (Sorry I haven't really pulled it apart, and I don't have a wiring diagram. It's just that these parts are so darn expensive to get for these, unfortunately it seems people jack up the prices. I would think they would be cheaper because many parts are interchangeable spanning three different decades! Kind of a shame, really. Thanks!
