    Exclamation kle 500 b6f owners?

hi all just got a kle 500 b6f 950 miles on the clock. clunky gear box and the engine sounds clunky on cold start up to is this normal for these engines. the manual tells me to pull clutch in and use the choke if temp below 35c. it does sound better if i do that. temp means i will always have to use choke even in summer unless the bike is warmed up. as uk does not even get that temp. . but does not seem right to me. also i have to sort of race the clutch and let it out faster to get going in 1st or the bike starts to judder a bit. is this normal for the gpz 500 engine thats in the bike. any other tips on riding the bike would be grateful. thanks

KLE is like that, clunky gearbox, noisy engine(common thing on them, distribution chain is loud, but that is normal), I was pretty paranoid with mine for the first few months thinking something is wrong, it will fall apart, but it never ever stuttered. They are virtually bullet proof, just put the gas in the tank and ride it. Great sound if you put Shacal slip on on it, too

thanks that makes me feel better. i think the stutter is a slack chain. cheers

Funny story now that you mentioned slack chain, mine was so streched that it actually fell from the sprocket two times while riding, lucky for me both times it happened while doing right turn. Worst part was, I had new chain and sprockets sitting in the box, just was to lazy to change them.

hi that was lucky, scarey stuff. just been to the garage to mention chain been to slack and he said it was ok. but the problem i was having was it felt like a slight judder when setting of in low gears. and he told me to use more throttle it feels like i am racing it to much.it may be just me getting used to the bike. but he did notice slight movement slack in the back sprocket when you turn it . when on the side stand. i dont know if this is the chain distribution slack or noise you mentioned. is yours the same ? dont know if this is because you need a bit slack in sprocket for off road use. is your kle same model as mine. thanks

I sold mine and got myself a Vulcan 4 years ago, so I'm going by the memory. As i remember, KLE was jerky if taking off with little throttle, so there's a possibility that your mechanic is right about that. As for distribution chain, I was talking about the one inside the engine itself. That sucka is noisy. And rear sprocket, I'm not sure if it's supposed to have that slack, I don't think that mine had it(I could be wrong, tho).

hi found out the slack in rear sprocket is called a cush drive. its normal i think to stop friction in the back wheel. now my choke is playing up it goes up and down and sounds sluggish instead of staying at the same higher rpm. the sort of noise you get when running out of fuel. it idles fine when push choke lever off. did you have any issues with the choke on kle ? thanks

No, as I recall the choke shouldn't act like that.

forgot to mention the choke or carbs might be blocked, it runs fine in idle and when on the road. 1000 miles in 6 years thats a lot off old fuel sat in them over the years. also mine got a 33bhp restrictor kit in it. im sure it was ok when first installed it no choke issues. i will stick some seafoam in fuel and see if that helps, then its going to garage for carb sync if no improvement. thanks for info anyway...
