hello i just put in a set of new friction plates into my 1981 ke175 and reassembled the clutch but im not sure wether i tighten the spring bolts and plate till it touching the other parts or if there is a specific torque spec or distence for it
Howdy. I'm not familiar with the KE175 & don't know much about the clutch.
According to the diagrams at Partzilla the clutch spring bolts are M5x20, so don't over-tighten them. the torque is going to be very small, around 30-40 INCH-lbs (not ft-lbs). I would probably gently tighten by hand with a small wrench, being careful not to over-do it. tighten incrementally in a cross-pattern. also, apply engine oil to the surfaces of the plates so they don't stick together.
