Anybody ride/have the klx250 dual purpose? If so, what do you think.

Do you have one? If so tell us what you think of it. I have considered buying one for some time.

i have a 1982 klx 250. it is currently in pieces in my garage, but i did get to ride it for a short time last year. i should have it all done in less than 2 weeks, but it will never see a road while i own it.

i have taken it through deep snow, the muddiest slop and has been launched off the biggest of jumps(kinda why it's tore down at the moment)

i have gone down a tooth on the front sprocket and can't wait to feel the difference when i get it back together. i am also hoping i can get the bike to idle when i am done, rebuilding the carb was one of the projects.

I have the 07 model. Its a fun around town bike that does well off road also. The suspension is soft but can be upgraded. The power is ok, many other riders have changed to a 13 tooth sprocket which really helps. It handles well and inexpensive. I usually go about 100 miles before a fill up. motorcycle-usa.com has a nice review of the 09 model which is out now with a video. The 09 model also comes in red.

i have a '93 klx 250 which im gonna do up a bit, it has a nice race exhaust and K'n'N filter on it and its been on the road a bit but keeping off road now ....it rips up the quarry we ride at and handles anything you throw at it and keeps up with the 250 2 strokes and bigger engine bikes...hoping to get a pic up ....needs work on it at the moment on brakes tyres etc

I have an 04 klr250.. I was really ****ed when I found out that they redesigned them in 05 or 06... I think the new ones use the KLX engine?? Anyway, yeah it can be ridden off road, yeah it can be ridden on road. Not excellent at either, but still very fun. On road, mine easily does about 65mph with stock gearing, but it's at 6500 rpms... so use your best judgement on long trips. It will do 90 with a strong wind at your back and the engine tached out. Offroad, it's a bit heavy, so it's a little slow through tight stuff, but otherwise it's a good compromise if you do both. Gets about 50mpg on the road, if that matters. Horn sounds gay, and the battery/horn button/wiring won't handle anything much bigger without sounding like a goose. Whisper quiet from the factory; with the exhaust core out you can ride with the other thumpers without getting laughed at too much, has a little bit more top end, but it blackens the fender and it can melt the one reflector if you don't find a way to extend it out. The carb is a CV type, and it's not very snappy at all when you crack it open. Long swingarm, so in dirt it'll spin before it wheelies unless you pull back pretty good. Hope that wasn't too long winded!

I just got a KlX250s 09 June 15, I like it over all, however it is lacking in power I might change the front and rear sprockets to get more jam off road.
I had to ride the clutch a little on some hills. The suspension is a little soft. logging roads its great, nice ride.

I have notice that the timing chain is a little noise at around 5 1/2 6. And no matter what the guy at the dealership says the tires are not the greatest.
