awesome write up, I too would like to visit the dragon, not for zipping through the turns though, I have enough fun with that in jersey - im gong on my 4th set of "bank turn sensors" as kawasaki calls them, they are the bolts on the bottom floor boards haha

anyway, awesome pics great write up! Sounds like you made a point to take care of that bike well too!

LOL. But isn't that the fun of having those bolts? To replace them? Look at it this way: it keeps you proficient in turning wrenches

I will definitely keep the bike well maintained; last night I gave her the first bath to get all the bugs off, and much to my chagrin I left tiny swirl marks on the finish So, now it's time for some of the fine Turtle Wax platinum to fix the swirls, and then I think I might look into the clear paint protectors for the bike as well. I think I'm gonna grab a bottle of the Meguiar's PlastX plastic polish as well.

It's all about the ride. Great write up. I was proud to have The Vol-can join me on our ride to Missouri and back, it does make the ride more fun. I'll ride with or I'll ride alone, but I will ride.

check into some microfiber towels... also check out this guys stuff, I have been washing and waxing cars for about 10 years and i fell in love with this line of product

That's a great trip and story ....but did you know D&H cycles in Cullman Alabama wholesales Kawasakis at COST ??? I'd love a trip like that but I'd want a local dealer to work with .

I bought my 06' 900 Classic LT from D&H Cycles and have always been treated right there. When my bike was new, I thought the belt was too tight and called Dennis and he said, "it's under warranty, bring it in". That's what customers like to hear.

No, did not know that. Honestly, though, even if I did know about that dealership I'm not sure I would have picked it up from them because:

1.) The ride from D&H to Opelika would not have been enough distance to really get the bike broken in;

2.) I think I gained a TON of riding experience making this trip, something VERY important for a rider at my skill level;

3.) It was long, I got stiff, but all in all, I think it was well worth the 2 days ride just because of the experience of the whole trip. It was great!

Thanks for telling me about the dealership, though. My wife may start riding her own somewhere in the near future and I want her to start on something that would be ideally suited to her, as well as to her liking and fairly priced as well.

ozyran440, did you have a throttle lock for your ride? Also, how was the wind? I recently took a trip quite a bit farther, and took no time for pictures, or anything else except for fuel stops. Your trip sounds like you were able to enjoy your ride much more than the gruel I chose. Sounds and looks like you have very nice trip!

Nope, no throttle lock - just used the throttle as is. Wind was ok - got buffeted around quite a bit near the 18-wheelers, but that's expected. Otherwise, the trip was fun.
