Lightbulb KE100 Lighting

~ Make, Model, Year, Milage. Kawasaki KE100 1999 Approx 3700

~ How long you've owned the machine. A Month

~ Events leading up to your problem. I ended up having to cover a second shift at work, so I had to ride home at 12am. I did not notice anything while on the main road, but when I turned onto a parkway with NO lighting, I was driving into pitch black - attempting to slow down I almost hit a curb - scared me! I had the headlamp on high beam and could not see two inches in front of me. The indicator lights were barely lit, the head lamp was faint on both high and low beam, and when I switched on a turn signal - all the lights got brighter immediatly. My 45min ride home turned into almost two hours and I just switched back and forth between turn signals to make the lights brighter. This may not have anything to do with this problem, but it was out of oil when I drove it home after buying it. I also put 2 cycle oil into the transmission and rode it once. I already had the repair book, which did not help much, so I ordered the owner's manual and read it cover to cover. I followed the directions for changing the transmission oil, added the right oil, ran it two minutes, and changed the transmission oil again, using the correct oil. Except for this light problem the bike runs fine.

~ Anything you OR others have done to rectify the problem. The previous owner informed me the battery was old so I replaced it right away. A fuse was blown, but I replaced that already. The battery has enough water. Someone mentioned putting in a larger battery, but I don't know what to put in. My current battery is a 6n6 2ah. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have a 2000 kawi ke100 and the stock lights aren't very bright at all, the bike has a 6volt electrical system.
The turn signals on my bike don't work, I think theres a break in the wire somewhere.
Working on rebuilding the engine slowly now, not to worried about that now.
I checked and the battery in my bike is a 6n6 1d2.

Check your fuses for the turn signals. Your turn signals and brake light do not use the same fuse as your tail light and head light.

The stock lights are bright on my bike, but only if I have a turn signal on. Without the turn signal, all my lights are so dim they almost don't exist.

Come to think of it, I blew the fuse for my tail light and head light. Maybe I replaced the fuse with an incorrect fuse. I don't think it would really have anything to do with it since it is just for keeping the bike from shorting the battery. I'll keep my fingers crossed and the problem will just be a simple fuse. I'll let you know.

Check the ground connections at the headlight. It sounds like it was gaining ground when you turned on the turn signals.
