I just bought a KLX250s and its lacking in power, I talked to the dealership I purchased the bike from and they didn't have much of a idea on what to do.
I was thinking about changing the sprockets front and rear. Is there anything else I can do. |

Some respond okay to rejetting the carb, and getting a little extra air via opening the airbox up a bit. its only a 250 thought in the end, and no 250 4 stroke single is ever going to be very powerful. I you want a 250 that rips, toss the motor out of it and replace it with a KX250 2 stroke motor....instantly double your power, and lose weight all at the same time. I did that for a pal of mine, and damn that thing rocks now.

I have just recently sold a 2006 KLX 250 which i thought was apretty good bike, and as far as i know the motor is still the same. When i brought mine new it was restricted in the carby and the airbox and had no go at all. This needs to be looked at straight away. I got the dealer to rip the restriction in the carby out and to cut the little snorkel off the top of the airbox, gave it twice as much power. If you have already done that, the next step would be to put a KLX 300 barrell and put on your bike using your head, i live in Australia and could get it as a genuine accessory so you shouldn't have a problem. when the dealer put that on they re jetted it and i also put a staintune slip on muffler on it. This all cost me $1600 australian dollars. The result of those modifications was the bike had so much more torque and power, it pulled up hills heaps better and was just an all round better bike. Don't change the gearing, it'll either rev like a ***** or if you gear it down it'll have less power. Please let me know how you go.
