First off, have to ask myself why I waited to do this mod. For me the hardest part was taking off and putting back on, all the fairings, seat, and tank. Once I had all that stuff off, the carb and motor are in plain site and very easy to work on. I used the guides on KLRWorld.com: 22¢ Smile Maker Mod by Marty, and The Carb Picture Reference Book by The Patman.
My bike always felt like it had a bit of hesitation from off idle 6.5K rpm's, it was lean from the factory. Last weekend I drilled 4 one inch holes in the air box and removed the snorkel, this made the bike run very lean, had what felt like a slight miss at 3.5K to 5.5K in the rpm range. Last night I started the 22 smile mod, finished up this morning. On the test ride the bike felt very smooth from off idle to 6.5K rpm's, throttle was very responsive. From any rpm 2.5K and higher, to WOT was smooth and the bike pulled until I let off at 6.5K rpms. I'm very happy with cheap mod. Mark
