I have noticed that I need to upgrade the light bulbs in the headlight I looked in the manual and did not see what was the bulb types in there. So does anyone know them here.

I just put SilverStars in mine last week. So far so good. My commute includes a 1 am ride on 15 miles of country roads.

As DD stated, H7. Here's what I put in, made a nice noticeable improvement. No overtaxing the OE stock wiring or plastic lens & housing either.

suvlights.com Osram (Sylvania) - Hyper H7 (Clear) - 65W 190% - Each

Jim

PS - These work for both the high & low beams. I've only done the low beam thusfar (don't really see a need to do the highbeam either.)

There has been alot of bad luck with the longevity of Silverstars . Unless they've improved ,better keep the old bulb handy for a spare.

I had a SilverStar in my KZ for 17 months/16,000 miles then swapped it into the wife's Vulcan. Still works. I do carry spares for each type bulb on both bikes. They are part of my emergency kit under the seat.

No Ultras, I am thinking of trying one.

Side bar.

On my first night ride on the V I was convinced it had the poorest headlight ever designed. The next day I checked the adjustment. Way off from the dealer. After proper adjustment it was much better, I just want more.

Good to know about the adjustment. But I checked it it was fine. But like I said I live in a deer infested area, and need some bright lights but dont want to ruin my headlight or wiring.
