Is the wet seal on the right side of the case? Does anyone know if I need to split the crank case to replace? I cannot tell from the manual.

Anything else that would cause oil to leak from trans into crank case?

I bought this off of ebay a while back. The seller said it went on a 1981 KZ 650 CSR but clearly he never had it on the bike. It looks very similar but there are several differences. First, the flange's where the pipes attach to the heads are much smaller than my CSR's, the crossover pipe is about two inches forward of the stock position, the mounting locations for the mufflers are about 8 inches forward of my bike's, and the indentions for the rear axle and center stand are in the wrong spot. I took a picture of the only numbers I could find on the whole system.

When I removed the baffle on my 1975 F11, a rubber bushing which seemed to separate the baffle and the muffler shell, crumbled apart. I have not been able to locate this in any diagrams. Can anyone help me identify a part name/number?

Thanks,

I will be putting my '82 550 LTD back together over thanksgiving break and was wondering if I should oil the rings at all. THe cylinder has a fresh hone and new rings/piston. One guy told me that he recommends not to oil them so the rings bite in and shape themselves. Other guys say the first guy is wrong. What should I do?

Also, another guy at work is big into hot rods, and he told me when he fires up a motor for the very first time he uses a non-detergent oil, fires it up, runs it slowly up through the rpm band, slowly brings it back down, shuts it down and doesn't touch it for the rest of the day. Next day he drains the oil and puts his regular brand oil in. Would this be something I should do?

Thanks,
I just picked up a 84 ZN700 LTD for dirt cheap, it hasn't been ran in years but I got it running. I really wanna fix it up a bit and get it running better, how difficult is it to work with these bikes, especially these 84 models since its the only year they were made? I'm not a master mechanic by any means, just an everyday average joe who wants to ride and tinker on the bike. Any little bit helps... I know how everyone loves these "please help" posts, I just wanna know if it's gonna be over my head to proceed with this. Thanks!

I know I'm not much help without knowing any specifics, but I know its complete, just hasn't been run in years... figured at worse it would be a project to keep my butt off the couch.

Hi, new to this forum. I checked the archives for help with my problem and got bleary eyed. Info overload. As for the sticky! 1976 KE 125 two stroke, rotary valve. Got the bike, had no spark. Pulled rotor/flywheel. Cleaned magnets. Cleaned stator pickups. Checked condensor for ground from lead to case with it removed. No ground. Checked three coil assemblies wraps on stator for continuity. Have continuity. Dressed points. Reassembled at 16k point gap. Checked for ground from stator to remote coil. Started bike. Ran poorly during road test then died. No spark again. Unhooked stator lead to coil. Tuned over. DC voltage going from 123 to 0 to 123 on stator lead. Remove spark plug boot. Hold finger on wire from coil. Feel spark but not blow my finger off! Recheck points gap and grounds. All lights disconnected. Other archives I read mention a battery. No battery.I assume one stator coil wrap does ignition and the other two are for lights. Coil ohms from plug lead to stator input connector with lead disconnected wire at 335k. Any help? Thanks, Brad
