I got 4 K&N pods and a stage 3 dynojet, and works great.
Runs little rich, but that kool for the winter months as she starts on the button every time

Where did you get your filter pods and jet kit?
I beg to differ... Ever hold a KN up to a light? See how much light gets through? Hold a regular air filter (new or lightly used) up and see how much smaller the 'light spaces' are?
They do make some filters (S&B) that are similar to KN but use a thicker (more effective) filter media. On some websites they have the SAE filter efficency tests posted... look it up for yourself.
K and N have a great reputation from being an excellent flowing filter, but not necesarily the best filtering filter.

im with chevelle on this one... actually id like to get a different filter for my bike, I know the K&N lets junk through, but 35K miles and not burning oil so i gues shes ok

Should I change my air filter.
I'm in Atlanta, Ga (right now its high pollen count season). My bike is acting funny lately. It'll start right up EVERYTIME i press the start button but SOMETIMES while riding it acts as if its' lost all power and can't rev any higher than 4k rpm.
I really hate showing you guys what air filter I have in the bike now because it only cost like $20 on ebay but I need to know if this may be my problem....the my bike simply can't breath.
Kawasaki ZX-6R ZX6R 1998-2002 Uni-Filter Air Filter NEW : eBay Motors (item 350323561213 end time May-01-10 09:07:10 PDT)
this is my filter.
Yesterday around noon I took the bike out for a nice ride to run some errands and drove it for about 45 mins with no problem. Played with it, washed it, put in my new undertail, cleaned the yard and so on. Around 6 i got geared up to go for another ride and couldnt make it out of my complex. The bike (which stays on) just can't seem to get any PUSH behind the throttle...I try to keep it at like 4k rpm but holding the throttle there and it gives up...drops right back down to idle speed.
Do you guys think its my filter that's causing this? I don't have a spare filter to test this theory just yet so i'm just asking around.
LESS BRAKE MORE THROTTLE!!!
4K RPM isn't that like idle speed for those speed bikes?
Seriously though try pulling the clutch in and revving it while flying down the highway, will it give you more then 4K RPM then?
Also, drop it a gear or two or maybe three and twist the throttle ill bet it picks up fine.
I really thought 4K RPM on those bikes is a bad place to be unless you are cruising, redline on that is what like 12K - 14K??
I have a v twin red line is 8k I drive cruising around 4- 4.5K all the time
just saying....
good luck
Also, if you washed everything i think your filter got really wet, or maybe you have an ignition issue when wet... take the filter out and let it dry then try the bike again?

@ Kenny wel I just washed the exterior of the bike. I didnt go under that gas tank (where the air filter box is). Yeah it red lines at 14k rpm, so by it not making it even to 4k doesn't really give me enough power to shift up. I have tried holding the clutch in and i've also tried down shifting but the problem is this is happening in FIRST gear.
The weird thing is that it may run just fine today when I get off work (smh).
LESS BRAKE MORE THROTTLE!!!
sogone, it sounds like a wet or damp ignition issue to me then....

Wet Ignition? I'm not sure what that is exactly. Can you ellaborate?
LESS BRAKE MORE THROTTLE!!!
More air + more fuel = more power. We're not talking 25% increases in Hp and torque but seat-of-the-pants tests verify the stats. Plus louder sounds more powerful. That's just man's psyche, he can't help it. But generally changing the air filter to a high flow type generally won't change anything performance-wise b/c the exhaust system, engineered to match the air intake system, still limits the amount of air going through the engine. Changing the exhaust too now allows more air to flow. So you need more fuel to match the increased air so you rejet (carbed) or Pwr Comm (FI) to match. So now you have more power. But you also have less mpg, go overboard and your costs rise exponentially when including gas, fouled spark plugs, air filter replacement/cleaning, etc.
So it's a balance between what components work together, what sound you like, what look you like and whether you can afford it all. Keeping in mind of course that absolutely none of it is necessary if you like your bike the way it is. Most guys I ride with have changed handlebars and exhaust pipes as often as I change underwear. They aren't and prolly never will be satisfied. 1 guy is on his 5th exhaust system in 2 yrs, another on his 3rd handlebars in 2 yrs, another just can't seem to find the right turn signals, and another has rebuilt/re-cammed/rejected his motor so many times I've lost count. I think he's trying to invent an air-cooled v-twin that will keep up with a 1k sport bike.
Words aren't children and there's nothing wrong with killing them to clarify a point or keep the peace.
