I haven't touched the top speed and really dont intend to anytime in the near future but my BF's father sounded rather surprised in looking at the odometer where the top speed is 130mph and it redlines at 13k, is that right? Could my little 250 (brand new) actually get up to 130 and redline at 13k or is that incorrect.

probably not. I'm not familiar with the bike, but with wind resistance and lack of HP, you will reach a point where the motor can't push any harder.
It even happens with big bikes. my 1500 with the windshield on it will top out at 105 or 110 just because of wind resistance. For reference though, I had my 650 at an indicated 135 at 10k of an 11k redline. the extra 1000 rpm would probably buy me another 5 mph. based on the pull I was getting, I THINK I could get there, but without a lonely stretch of road, I'm not going to try it any time soon.

we have this discusion on kzrider all the time.i did 145 indicated on a corvette speedo next me on a stock geared kz1000 poked to an 1170 on a wide open stretch of interstate many years ago without a helmet and im here to tell you my eyes were pushed back about to where my ears were!kawasaki speedos tend to be anywhere from 10-15mph off depending on who you ask.ive done the same speed on a hotrodded zx-11 and it was like a sunday cruise that fairing makes all the differance in the world for hauling *** any length of time, now at the track ive done some short sprints that folks will be talking about for a long time after im gone
around these parts!hahaha

My 07 250 does 107 best so far, by BMW 745Li GPS & Speedo
130 is really high for a 250, i think top speed is around 115-118 for the new 250...13K redline is right

i think 115 down hill would be possible. It also depends on rider weight and other factors. I've heard 113 is the limit on the pre 08's but that is hearsay as i've never ridden one or seen one going over 85 on the highway.

My Honda reads up to 150. It couldn't go that fast 25 years ago when it was new. It won't go that fast now, either.
A review from back then indicates it tops out at just under 110 actual, which would probably be around 130 on the speedometer. I haven't had it up that high, but I'm sure it will go there. I've never seen any sign of being close to the top end on the highway traveling at Connecticut driver speeds - i.e., really too fast. |

I had my speedo calibrated and it was off a little. With the calibration in place the max I have gotten up to is 144 on my 06' 636 down Interstate 40. I still had throttle and RPMs to go, but the cars were coming up way too fast. I am curious how much more I could go. Of course the full Yoshi RS-5 Carbon exhaust, K&N, and 101 octane fuel I burn helps.
