Please help I'm trying to correct some problems with a friends Kawasaki Brute Force and I'm down to the last issue, that I know of???
The 4X4 fuse has to be pulled when the ATV is parked or the battery will go dead within a few hours. Basically, If he does not pull the fuse the ATV's battery will go dead overnight. However, when the 4x4 fuse is pulled the ATV can sit for days and the battery will NOT go dead. Can anyone explain the problem and/or point me in the right direction to fix the problem? I'm thinking the 4x4 relay or solenoid in the front differential is bad, or there has to be some sort of short circuit in the 4x4 system. Please forgive me but I am not familiar with the ins and outs of the Kawasaki 4x4 system. The 4x4 system, switch, and 4x4 operation works fine, it just runs the battery down when parked and he is getting tired of having to pull the fuse every time he parks the bike. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance for any and all HELP!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

The only times I have see this problem is if some one with a single ear to ear eyebrow has jump started one of these with an external car battery, and exceeded the avalanche voltage for the diodes in the charging system, and now they are no longer working as one way gates and allow the system to drain the battery.
I would sit down with the section of the manual for the charging system and test each of the components as described therein.

The service manuals are readily available at any Kawasaki dealer, and through the site sponsor.
My belief is that the service manual is critical for anyone that intends to perform any form of service, outside of routine oil changes. The owners manual is also readily available, and necessary.
