I'm not sure about a mojave... but the KVF400 doesn't have a "preset" float height. It uses a kind of checks and balances after you've already installed the floatbowl. The factory ships a small slip of paper with a new float that you hold up beside a peice of clear plastic tubing hooked to the bowl drain and held at a certain place beside the float bowl.

The float level isn't something you should be screwing with too much unless you buy a new float, in which case you get the gauge and you'd already know the setting. What's going on with your quad?

Its pouring fuel out the overflow tube, and has been since day one.
Just its getting worse by the day.
Theres is NOWAY I will buy another darn float when theres NOTHING wrong with the one I have now!
Do you know how damn expensive the float and needle are?!

I need the float measurement.
Not some Blow through the fuel line or some clear tube to see fluid hight in the bowl.

A simple number will allow me to adjust the float the PROPER way.
I dont want to have to pull the carb a million times to get the float adjusted.
As this tends to start tearing the carb boots and srtipping out those cheese D**K phillips screws.

With as many ppl that visit this site, you would think that SOMEONE! would know the float hight measurement!
Theres NOWAY Kawasaki service guys are going to use some BS paper and tube, Requireing them to install, check, pull off and apart, adjust, install, check, then repeat this many times to get one adjustment done!

so you have the issue of gas pein out the over flow .typical.

i take by what i read you allready replaced the float needle.and still peein gas . i have a measurement off my friends float .but you may want to take a real good look at the float seat it self in the car.its brass and sometimes they corride and pit. which woudl cause the float needle tip not to seat properly stopin the flow of fuel.

the measurement i have is from the float bowl mount to the top of the float while its hanging down is 1/4 + or - 1/16.that is in the middle of center line of the float.

or if you hold the carb up like it would be on your machine the float is allmost settin level just hangin.if not just a taste lower than level.

but if you have never changed the floats id really be lookin at that seat closely.

also 1 question the over flow hose your talkin about is the is it on the bottom of the carb or on the upper side of the carb.

if its comeing out the lower hose the screw that is in the float bowl it self can leak due to a bad oring or screw also.

is your air box fillin with gas also?

hope this may help you out -corey-

Ok.... I can tell that you're not sure how this forum works by your lack of post numbers. This thing is volunteer meaning no one gets paid to troll the forum pulling magic numbers out of their posterior for you. There is a process to determining the float height and you better believe that's exactly how Kawasaki has their techs check the float level. I have the factory service manual for my Prairie and it outlines very clearly. The float adjustment is made by hooking a clear piece of tubing up to the drain and opening the drain screw. The fuel level in the clear tubing is the same as the fuel level in the float bowl and that tells you how far to bend the tang on the float to get the fuel level properly adjusted. It requires one disassembly to get the adjustment proper but it's the only way to get the fuel level correct.

Kawasaki does not publish a float height specification, but sells a gauge with the new float or needle kits. Follow the general instructions regarding the use of a transparent hose attached to the drain, and you have to eyeball it to see that the level is just about a full 2 mm's below the bowl gasket when the carb is mounted.

If the carburetor is clean and properly jetted that will be the initial float setting. Then you need to test run and try the performance and either raise or lower the level until it performs the best. Just never set it above the gasket or you will flood the pilot circuit and have all sorts of problems.

Also, never try to set a carburetor float level this way if the carburetor has any partially plugged passages or you will be "whizzing in the wind" and accomplish absolutely nothing.

Setting the float without the gauge is not an easy feat. It is really much more economical to just spring for the $25 float kit and use the gauge.
