If you add equal lengths top and bottom it SHOULD retain the same camber and caster. It should work fine but seems like an awful lot of work for only 1" extension.
If you only want 1", look into spacing the wheel with an extension. It raises no questions about longevity, camber, or caster. It gets you the desired 1". If you're looking for more than 1" of extension then you'd have to remake suspension arms. The 400 only has one brake on the right rear... less maintenance but crappy still. I'm replacing the drum brake with the caliper the same as the rear on the mojave. It's a hydraulic foot, cable handle (parking). The original left handlebar parking brake will be retained but the foot brake will be greatly augmented with the disc. My main complaint wasn't how ineffective the foot brake was, but how after a few short hours of riding the parking brake was completely gone. This should remedy that problem. |

i thought about camber caster i was goin to make a ecentric bolt to move the camber caster by rotating the ecentric bolt .allowin the upper arms to move in and out.of coarse i will have to elongate the oe mountin hole a bit to allow for movement.takein the idea from aligning cars over the years and maybe applieing them to a quad.
i looked into the spacers but didnt like the idea of moveing the wheel further out causein to much load on a spindle.and a risk breakin it off. the only reason why i really want to do the front 1 in is so i dont have to change the rear axle to a wider one ,just thinkin about gettin a wee bit more stability in the front end.the trails we ride are steep inclines and major ruts and pot holes.and i noticed it wonders and trys to roll on the front. dang no wonder you had real crappy brakes.only one on the rear?. no wonder you had isues stoppin that 450lb wheeler.on my ole bayou it had dual drum in the front and dual in the rear.i like to see if someone can retro fit disc to the front of these beasts.that would be the cats behind for stoppin power-corey- |

Certain 300's had dual disc in the front and all the 400's did. The front brakes are monsters and they'll slide all four tires but they're not parking brakes...
If it wanders, look at those a-arm mounting bolts. The factory setup was fairly stable if in good shape... |

I did have some issues with my footboxes I made but I rectified those. I cut down the front mounting location changed the fender support bracket and made a new front mount for the boxes. Now it's lock to lock with no issues.
I'll be down in the spring to see how these beasts pull. I may try to do a little mudding in a week or two just to see if we're going to have any issues but the water's getting pretty cold out there and I don't like freezing... Don't the KLF300's have a two speed subtransmission below the regular gearbox? The KLF400 has 5 forward gears but 1st is actually called "SL" or super low. Top speed with the 26" tires was only 4 mph I'm thinking I may actually get up to 5 mph now in SL. |

I made plans tonight to take the Prairie and Bayou out tomorrow to some lowlands. I'm going to see how the new tires do. I don't expect any problems, but keep your fingers crossed, I may encounter some water and also some MUD!!! I'll try to take some pics and I'll definitely give yall a blow-by-blow about how well the quad's did.

It's like a guy we go riding with. He has an '08 BF750i. He thought because he had that beefy engine that he'd be able to go anywhere and do anything he wanted. He found out that beefy engine comes with a weight price tag and while that setup can pull tires as big as he wants, the factory skins give up long before he wanted them to. In the end, his weight was a huge hindrance and his engine had way more power than his tires could put to the ground.

oh by the way how did that rear disc conversion work out ? was the stoppin power better even with the bigger tires?
that goes to prove one thing, bigger is not always better when muddin or ridein trails. yes the motor and wieght of these machines can cause some pains.in the wallet and on the body when you get em stuck with out havein a winch lol. |

The disc conversion stopped great. I could hit the rear pedal and stop the entire quad if I wanted to! I'm going to have to adjust it again though. The pedal adjustment is a little too tight I think. It chewed through enough pad on our little ride that the parking brake was out of adjustment when we got ready to go. At least that's easy to adjust. It's just a 12mm bolt in the back of the caliper screw it in another half turn a voila!.
I've been mud digger'd out. The chick who took the pictures found that song a while back and played it probably 100 times in one weekend on a boombox she brought along. My buddy threw the CD out the window on the way home while she wasn't looking. |
