Default 650 brute force starting problem

Hello all,I have a 2006 650 carburated ,solid axle brute force. Quad will start-up fine when engine is cold, and also run well, however after warmed-up if u shut if off and leave it set a few minutes it doesnt want to start back up and u can smell gas . I have changed plugs and air filter, doesnt seem to help .
    Any ideas?
    Thank You ,Mike

hello mike,,,, welcome to te forum.

well sounds to me like yoo may need to clean the fuel system.

start by takeing the tank off and cleaning it out with denatured alcohol.

then pull the carb off and take the fuel bowl off and and remove all the jets and clean the carb with seafoam.a soak over nite will do good.

reassemble your carb......oh yeah i forgot one step on the tank remove the fuel petcok and replace the filter on the fuelpetcok.and remove the 2 screws to open the valve up and clean the valve also.

then put the tank back on and put fresh 89 or 93 octane back in tank.

    thats one thing to do.

but also may want to see if you spark is gettin weak via a coil goin bad and breakin down .next time this happens have a extra plug handy and hook it to the spark plug wire and look at the spark it should be bright blue and crisp.

or if have a manual and a muti meter it should give you coil ohms specs

check the coil cold and then hot and see if the numbers change a lot.shouldnt change much may drop a little on ohms.

or take the coil and have it checked by your dealer.

hope this may help out a little keep us posted on your findings -corey-
