i'm looking at getting a bit more ground clearance and mud performance out of my mule after recently getting stuck in the slop.
can anyone recommend a good lift kit for a mule 3010 ? what size tires should i search for that i can still mount on my stock rims? also, is there a lift kit that will soften the ride a bit? it rides like a brick on wheels. |

I see you are not drawing much in the way of comments. I personally detest lift kits, but only because I see the Mule's after the steering gear is over-stressed and torn up, or the transaxle ruined and I have to bill the owners for thousands in repair charges and watch them turn white when they learn the damages.
Lift kits usually draw the less senior owners, and then they try to keep up with the Teryx's and these are just not built to do that. Drive the sensibly and watch your load and torque application to the axles and the good lift kits will do just fine. There are good ones, and I believe the site sponsor sells one that is good at a discount to forum members. As far as the suspension being softer, that depends on how you have it equipped. If you have a snow plow package it will rattle your teeth when running with the plow removed and on rough ground. If you run too much air in the tires that will also bounce you around a bit. The best bet is to experiment with the air pressure in the tires until you obtain the ride you are looking for.

I've installed an Essex Mfg. kit that include 2" lift hardware with heavy front springs hardware to lift the rear as well. Then I put 27" agressive tread tires for rock, mud, trees and boggy areas. The combonation of lift kit and larger tires provides 11" of ground clearance.
I understand the caution behind raising these units up too far but I have not felt any binding or difficulty in the steering. I don't drive aggressively with the mule and use it as a workhorse. I have towed other vehicles out of tough areas and even winched my JD 4600MFWD out of trouble. As far as the ride, I usually have a good amount of tools in the bed and at least 2 to 3 people in the unit and the ride isn't bad. My wife drives the Mule mostly and she has no problems handling the machine even in tougher terrain. Last edited by Silver Hunter : 10-03-2009 at 01:25 AM. |
