timing chain is all that i can think that is binding up,or something inside that you took off is not aligned properly.take the case back off and see what may be binding up-corks-

I would suspect you rolled the engine over backwards and flipped the cam chain off one of the sprockets and have either bound the crankshaft or have locked a valve into the piston when the cam was no longer timed properly.

But, also check to be sure you did not leave a chunk of the old key in the flywheel that is now stuck to the magnet and dug into one of the alternator coils.

If it is not a chunk of old key, go to your service and repair manual and check the section that covers the cam and cam chain. It will walk you through the tear down and repair.

What happens can be one or both of the following:

The timing chain rolls off and winds around the crankshaft drive sprocket or just binds along the cam sprocket.

The timing chain rolls off and the camshaft no longer turns and the piston drives a valve into the piston crown when the engine turns over and the camshaft does not maintain timing.

Never roll a four stroke engine the wrong direction. Camshaft lobes are ground with acceleration ramps and then a different profile on the release side of the lobe. Rolling one backwards without it being very well oiled can damage the cam or a rocker arm. If the cam chain has not been serviced and is loose, driving the chain backwards allows slack to build up on the off side and roll the chain off a sprocket.

If you let the chain fall in the crankcase and or just tried turning over the engine with it loose and not on the cam sprocket it can bind up near the crank sprocket.

its hard to lock a valve .just take that caes off and the cam gear inspection plate and the chain tentsioner back off and start over.

use a 15mm socket to rotate the engine over on fly wheel bolt when you get the chain undone from its bind to time the machine and you may want to get another set of paws to help you out in the timin off the engine .one will hold the fly wheel bolt at the (Tmark) and the other set of hands hold the chain up and move the cam gear to its mark .then put the tentsioner back in and adjust it.while holdin all the timin componets still with the socket on the fly and a socket on the cam gear.thisds will help out with the marks not moveing when tentsion is applied to the chain.

2 10mm bolts on the tent remove em and then turn and pull out the tentsioner.then take the chain now that its slacked and put it on the cam gear after you line up the timin marks.use your other set of hands to hold the chain tought so it will roll with the engine while your turning it to get the marks on the fly lined up .then use a socket on the cam gear and roll the timein mark up for the cam .then put the chain over the cam while holding everything still .then put the tent back in and snug the 2 10mm bolts to 15 ftlbs of torque.theer is a bolt on the back of the tent while its out loosen it and push the plundger back in and tighten the bolt.when you have the tent back in loosen that bolt again and it will release that tent plundger and the chain will tighten up.snug that bolt back down.-corey-

I have the same problem. A Husqvarna chainsaw scrench works good enough if you don't want to buy another plug wrench like me.
