I have a 300 bayou that we stripped down and totaly cleaned the carburator and replaced alot of parts on that a kid we got it from had torn up.
The problen i am having is that it will start and it seems to be getting fuel but when it gets warm it dies and wont start and acts like its not getting fuel. we have replaced most of this machine as its the 4th 300 we have and we also have a 220 that we use. These machines are awesome but this problem is keeping it in the garage and we would love some feedback on what anyone might think of that we havent tried or cant think of. This machine was stripped down to the frame and repainted so all the parts are new or totaly cleaned. We put a carb from another machine on it but still the same problem also the igniter box was used from another machine and still the same problem, We put the parts back on the other machine and they work fine. Its frustrating and i could use some help please.... Thanks Zeulon from Missouri |

for the 300 have you checked the intake boot and oring with carb cleaner to see if you have a leaky intake when it warms up?
also try this for giggles.... next time it dies out take the fuel tank fill cap off and listen for vaccum.could have a bad tank breather causein vapor lock. im guessin when it set for 20 min or so itll start and run again for a while and then die out again? also hows the fuel shut off valve? did you take that valve out of the tank and clean and rebuild it by chance and replace that cylinder filter? -corey- |

To me it sounds like your starting it, using the fuel that is in the carb bowl, and then it's dying because the fuel in the bowl is not being (or has not been replaced).
It possibly could be nothing to do with it getting warm. It's just using the fuel in the bowl, then stalling? Does it run for longer when left at idle compared to full revs? I would suspect the float chamber has a fault, either the float height setting, the float valve at first. Do you have a manual? |

We have the clear hose showing the fuel level on the outside and it stays at a good level, the bowl is also clear and we can see that it is fine also.
The battery is great it fires right up but its just when it gets warm it dies and sputters out. we have tried everything with the carburator and fuel since we have rebuilt 4 other of these machines we are stumped. it has to be someting but as you all know there isnt much there so we are lost. Keep trying please. |

I can't remember if my KLF400 manual has a testing procedure for the ignition coil in it or not...I'm thinking it does but can't remember seeing it right off.
It sounds like a dying coil to me. They get hot and stop firing (or fire very weak) and usually the engine will pop over but not quite start. Let it cool down 15-20 minutes and it'll fire right back up and run great |
