Default 610 cooling fan question

I use my 610 in hay fields and tall grass. I have a problem with the grass blocking the outside of the cooling fan. I have not had it get hot on me, but have to clean it out really often, any suggestions that may help in keeping the fins clean. As long as I ride it I know I have to clear the grass off the fins, but if someone else were to use it without knowing I would hate for my trusty little machine to overheat.

thanks for any help!!

John

Make sure the cooling system guard is in place on the frame. That is about the only thing there is outside of the intake screen itself that blocks the junk from the air intake.

Grass in flower or with seed tends to suck up to the intake screen, but will usually drop off once it stops running. However, I have seen guys make a cone shaped addition to the intake screen from heavy screen with about quarter inch holes. It ends up sort of funnel shaped with the point away from the engine.

That seems to catch the big stuff, but grass flowers that are pollinating go right through and end up stuck to the intake screen, so I do not use them but just keep a bench brush handy and everyone knows to check them between runs and give them a brush.

I do not know how plugged they would have to be to overheat, but I have seen grass flowers and seed pods on the intake guard so thick that it looks like a blanket and still no overheating.

Thanks!! Looks like I will just have to keep brushing it off. Never had it really thick, but with someone else but me using it I was worried it might overheat.
