Default Mule not charging!

When I bought this mule (1000) they told me it doesn't charge the battery, they're right! Is there some thing quick I can look for? The motor had a complete overhaul and didn't charge when they got it back. Could some thing not get hooked back up? I do have a service manual but no time right now to search it. Shuold I just replace the whole set up? Thanks

Do not start swapping any parts until you have gone through the diagnosis process.

First check you fuses. Take a look at the chassis electrical equipment parts diagram on Kawasaki.com to get an idea where the fuses are located.

If that is not the problem then follow the diagnosis steps in the manual, and pay particular attention to the regulator and the stator.

Usually when these charging systems conk out after a rebuild it is the wiring from the stator not properly connected to the regulator. Sometimes it is the fitting where that wiring goes through the case. Most often that can be easily repaired, but if it was run shorted, the stator may be blown so carefully test it if you find the through case fitting shorted.

I did have some electrical smoke come from a piece under the passenager seat. It looked like a silver thing with cooling fins on in. It smoked out of the back but every thing is running fine. Haven't checked the manual yet to see what this is.

I heard a electronic tech once say that those things (silver finned boxes) run on smoke and when you let the smoke out of them they are done.
