Default 400 KVF Gas in Oil Problem

I have a 2000 Kawi 400 KVF and I recently noticed gas in my oil, so I changed the oil and when I checked it today, sure enough, it was overflowwing because gas had seeped in somehow. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem or at least where to start to look. Thanks.

It is your carburetor float valve leaking.

Do not rush out and buy a new float valve until you inspect the seat in the carburetor. These carbs do not have rebuildable seats, so if the seat is damaged or pitted - takes a really bright light and good eyes to see - you have to purchase a new carburetor body along with the float valve.

Most often you will get off with either just a chunk of lint in the valve and a worn needle, but look before you buy replacement parts.

Frankly, if the float valve seat is damaged it is less expensive to just replace the carb than it is to fool around swapping parts to install a new carb body. Or, better yet get a substitute Mikuni carb that comes with replaceable float valve seat so it lasts for many years.

Thanks RCW. I'll take a look at the float valve. I hope this cures my problem. Anyone else have any tips for me??? I also noticed my foam air filter came apart at the seam and there were alot of leaves and debris gathered on the steel screen. I'm thinking some dirt might have gotten into the carb and could be causing me trouble too.

I would also look at the float pin & holes in the carb that it goes through. I have seen many of the holes in the carb body to be enlarged from wear. I have epoxyed the float pin in the carb body to repair this with some success. You will want to make sure the float valve & seat are clean before you epoxy it in. Also check you float level to make sure it is set correctly.
