Default Witch winch for a mule trans

I have a 3010 trans gas and am looking to get a winch for it and need some help on deciding. First what rating will a 3000lb be sufficient or should I move up to a 4000lb class. Next the brand, I know that Warn is top, but the price has me deterred. If it really is worth spending the extra money the ok, but will a cheaper one do the same thing. I have been looking at Mile Marker PE4500 and even the Venom 4000lb model. Now don’t blast me to much but I don’t want to spend an extra $200 if I don’t need to.

I have no problem with the bargain winches at all, so just get what does the job. Remember the rating on a winch is at one cable wrap on the drum, and then it falls off dramatically as the wraps increase. So, go larger than you can barely live with, and you will be much happier.

Also, watch out for the wireless remote control winches. If you never need one, wireless is great. But, when I need one it means my front end is stuck under a couple feet of slop and the wireless system does not work anymore. It is bad enough to have to dig for the cable, but when I have to also use a wrench to wrap the winch cable by hand under the slop, it really sucks!

So you are saying that when it is bad enough to need a wireless remote then it is too bad to work, so it’s kind of pointless. Whit the rating a 4000lb would probably be more suited for when I get stuck in the mud.

I like my mile markers I have on both my trucks, and my quads.

And yes, always buy more winch than you think you will need.

On just my little old Honda foreman 450 quad, a 2000 pound winch was not enough when it was really stuck, and its just 600 pounds.
I now have 3500 pound winches on both my quads, and its a lot better.
