Question HELP!! 98' kawasaki Prairie 400 4x4 issues starting....

Hoping someone will know what I need to do. My ATV only starts by pull starting. Battery charged have two of them one brand new, allows lights to come on, when starting it starts a clicking noise?? There is no spark from battery and cables? What should I check for, hoping its not the starter. I have been able to start very few times after its been running by pull start and I shut off then try??? anyone who could help me out??

First, a few things to check...

Find a multi-meter. Check to make sure that your battery has 12V~ at the terminals.

The solenoid is located between the airbox and battery underneath the seat. It has two large wires (one coming directly from the battery) and two small wires connected to it. The large wire connected directly to the battery should have 12V~ all the time. The other large wire goes to the positive post on the starter. Trace each point of the large wire with the multimeter while someone is holding the starter button in the "start" position. You should be able to find 12V~ at every connection point (battery terminal, one side of the solenoid, the other side of the solenoid, positive post on the top of the starter) If you can find 12V~ at each connection point to the top of the starter, it points to a bad starter. If you cannot find 12V~ at every connection point, report back your findings.

Good detective work. Probably rebuild/purchase a used one off EBay to get you back up and running as inexpensive as possible.
