Default hearing strange noises on my wheeler

bought 4 wheeler last winter 98 prairie 400 4x4 had some small fixes started to here strange noises late spring sounds like a small clunk and almost like the sounds of a bearing at the end of its life only hear noises when im in low range and crawling over small mounds started to look around because i cannot pinpont where the noise is coming from my first guess was the u joint (spyder) or the rear end so i checked the rear end gear oil..... bone dry! so i put some in it and ran it a bit knowing there had to be a seal gone and maybe a bearing sure enough leaking out the left side of gear casing or differential only on the left seal though my question does anybody know which parts might be suspect of the noises or if anybody else has the same problem any info much appreciated
