Default any help i have a 89 bayou 300 keeps shuting down

i have a 89 kawisaki klf 300 bayou it will start and run for a while and shuts down it wont start up unless you wait a bit then it will restart and shuts back down it seems like the run time is getting shorter each time is it the cdi and can i test it so i dont buy one and it not be the problem

next time it dies out pull the plug or have another plug handy to check to see if you have spark .

that will rule out cdi ,coil, all that would be left is everything else. air, fuel, compression, and weak battery.

now when you check spark when it dies it should be bluish with a strong arcing sound.any thing besides this may be a weak coil, or coil to plug wire.

try that first and post back your finds we will go from there -corey-

What about the CDI overheating? sounds like it's cutting out when it gets to hot thats why you have to wait abit adn why it doesn't run as long as the 1st time (because it's already hot)

very well could be the cdi just process of ilimination.that a big money item. thats why i said to pull the plug and check for spark when it dies out to hopefully eliminate that cdi ,coil.but im leanin towards that cdi also tj.we have seen enough of these issues now to call it.there was that one gentleman that repaired his cdi it was a resister that fried. danged if i cant find that stinkin post lol.-corey-
